Radio controlled devices have gained popularity as hobby items apart from being used for various other purposes. Building, modifying and driving radio controlled vehicles is a favorite pastime of radio control enthusiasts. The sport involves displaying the skills of the person in handling the device, efficiently.

Remote or radio controlled devices are controlled from a remote distance. Jagdish Chandra Bose was perhaps the first to demonstrate remote controlled activity when he set alight gun powder to strike a gong using electromagnetic radiation, from a distance. Tesla was the first to show the use of a transmitter and receiver to remotely control a ship. He showed how mechanical gadgets could be controlled using the wireless principle in the year 1898. He also began the construction of a wireless tower that remained incomplete due to lack of finance. Tesla can be said to have created the basis for the design of radio controlled devices which are in use today. The American inventor Armstrong said, “The world will long have to wait for a mind equal to Tesla’s, a mind of such creative possibilities and such wealth of imagination.”

Remote controlled devices are also known commonly as RC devices- RC meaning radio controlled. Dr. William and Walter Good, two twin brothers created and flew the first radio controlled airplane in 1937. Dr. William was a radio specialist whereas his brother Walter built aero models. They combined both their skills to create a radio controlled airplane. The principle of radio control has also been used in the World War II. From the 1960s, transistors were available, and this revolutionized the circuits to make them compact and light.

Sometime during the mid or late 1960s, the British company Mardave, began producing the first commercially feasible remote controlled cars. The first gas powered or nitro cars were sold in the early 1970s in Leicester, where the company was based. Radio controlled devices need a control transmitter, a throttle trigger and wheels for turning, while the receiver is located in the body of the toy. These models run on either electricity or fuel. Electrical speed control is used in electrical models, whereas radio control mechanisms are used in fuel control systems to regulate the fuel input.

Toy grade devices are usually assembled models available at retail shops and are much cheaper than hobby grade models. The toy grade models use electric power and run on batteries. Hobby grade radio controlled devices are more serviceable and durable, but are very expensive. They run on fuel like gasoline or nitro and unlike toy models which are ready made, these require assembling of the various components.

RC devices come in the form of cars, airplanes, boats and helicopters. Remote controlled cars are used for racing and this is a very popular sport among car enthusiasts. Small cars and toys are used for indoor games. Radio control technology is combined with robotics to create various devices used in international robotics contests held in Japan.

There are numerous uses for radio control technology and vehicles are only one aspect of it. Radio controlled hobbies can be enjoyed in many ways and combined with robotics, they open up wider possibilities for the hobbyists.

The first thing to understand about Radio Promotion, is always that it can be veiled in mystery plus a “black magic” ambiance for the reason. It is not any coincidence which you constantly hear the same songs for the radio continuously, while other seemingly great songs never understand the light of day. Why is this? Is there some type of financial motivation behind what gets aired? Well we know stories in the illegal “P” word; Payola. Isn’t that illegal? So what else can it be? Could or not it’s how the songs that individuals hear are in reality very good and beyond our city you can find multitude of individuals who really adore these songs and constantly request them? Or maybe it’s the idea that the majority of the artists being played around the radio have major record deals. As an aspiring musician, We have asked myself these questions many an evening whilst driving home, flipping through radios stations that seemed to all be playing the same crappy song. On one such night, while trying to find something apart from “Lady Gaga Bieber Bruno”, yes each will run together i believe, I stopped to contemplate it this also really I came up with.

I have read many reports that outline how bad both the radio industry as well as the record label industry are going to do due to rise with the Internet and also the digital freedom revolution. I wont get into numbers as that would easily become a book. But the fact is both industries are seeing slow financial growth. So what exactly is it the two industries really make their money off of? Well for radio, their revenue is practically exclusively generated through advertisements. So divided into laymen’s terms.companies pay a radio station money to air an audio commercial on air, with the idea of reaching that stations listeners. The larger the listenership, the harder expensive the ad time. Get it? So coming from a radio stations perspective, the more expensive their listener base, greater money they pull in. Ok so now lets consider that the record label makes its money. Although this is changing due to the mind numbing speed where record labels have become irrelevant to distribute and promote music, an increasing label still helps make the most its cash on CD sales. Company, for anybody that are itching to call me out on it, I oftentimes tried CD sales as a possible encompassing concept for your sale of any music be it downloads or physical delivery of the music.

So, now lets discuss why a label plus a radio station may wish to keep airing an audio lesson, regardless of whether it’s annoying you aren’t really that great of your song. Well first lets begin with the record label. It is really an undeniable fact that most signed acts never make back the money the record label invested in them. That is why you are able to check out a major label website and find bands and artists that you have never even heard about. I mean it.go towards the biggest major label website you can imagine and find out in case you even know half of their roster. As due to this, major record labels need to have a minimum of a number of major stars which make enough to pay for their particular costs but in addition offset the losses with the failed bands. Now obviously if you have a big star which is capable of make it happen, being a company it is merely rational to attempt to direct numerous resources so that as much energy towards “thing” that’s working. Hence you hear of bands which can be signed although not permitted to release anything. Now lets take a look at radio stations side. This still doesn’t explain why certain songs are always played. To understand why these music directors choose what they do, we have to have a look at a psychological occurrence. Now, there were studies done that report that hearing an audio lesson repeatedly that you simply don’t particularly like, begins to create an appealing phenomenon. What happens is people begin to gradually range from disliking to ignoring, and from ignoring for the “song stuck in head” phase. And that will result in a person actually liking an audio lesson they previously would not have. So how does this affect a music directors playlist decisions? Well, since its generally accepted a signed major label act may have money behind it in promoting along with other stations and through other means, its assumed this psychological event will occur the place that the listener is exposed and gradually sets out to love an audio lesson even though its not good. So so far as keeping a listener base, it’s a secure bet. This obviously pleases the radio executives that enjoy continued listenership with as little risk as it can be.

So in conclusion, I do think its clear that money drives a few things i hear while I drive. I am optimistic though, particularly with the revolution in mid-air politically, digitally and artistically. It is due the point where I don’t ought to hear the radio to listen for music and I think that the emergence of Satellite and internet radio will pave the way for individuals to share with r / c what they want to hear and dictate to record labels who they need promoted. But We are just an aspiring musician dreaming.

Why do some folks dislike the winter time with such a hatred? Is it the snow, the cold, the slippery sidewalks, or is it something else they truly hate, and that is getting the winter blues because they always think there’s nothing to do. I have always loved the winter time, from when I was a kid to my present age, I don’t care much for the cost of the rising heat bill each year, but as far as the beauty of the winter scenery, I think it’s wonderful, truly a gift from God.

There was a time when I enjoyed making little movies to display on some of the online video sites, for others to enjoy. In a couple of these movies, I showed how I had made two homemade radios from using easy to find parts right at home. These little radios required no batteries and really do receive AM radio stations. You can actually make a complete working radio from just a few parts like: empty toilet paper tube, a razor blade, block of wood, copper wire, small pencil, nails or tacks, copper wire, a penny, and a cheap little earphone.

Building a homemade radio is great fun, it’s something that an adult can do by themselves, or sit around the table and make together with your young children. When I finished making my first homemade radio, it took me about two hours from start to finish, and that was taking my time, because it was my first one. I plugged the earphone in my ear, and moved the receiver piece around the coil of wire a little, and soon I heard a local AM station, playing music loud and clear.

Later I started searching for homemade radios on the internet and discovered that there is a whole bunch of different types and designs that you can make. Later on I made a complete working radio from just using copper wire, a penny and an earphone. To get started with making homemade radios, search the net for some ideas, two search terms you may want to investigate at first are; ‘ Fox Hole Radio ‘ and ‘ Crystal Radio ‘. Once you get started making a homemade radio, you will have a great hobby to amaze your family and friends, and it’s something you can do whenever you find yourself stuck inside, during the cold months of winter, it’s a great way to help fight the winter blues.

Ever wonder how this whole satellite radio thing works? I mean, it seems to be THE thing now. Many auto manufacturers are installing satellite radio receivers in their new automobiles, and there are home and portable models available through your favorite electronics outlet. But what is it? How does it work? Why should I pay for radio?

You pay for TV, don’t you?

Once, in those long gone days of yore, cable television operators offered us television, which we had happily been receiving for free through big tree-branchy things on our roofs, for a fee. Many people scoffed at the idea of paying for 30 channels when they received four or five, gratis. Well, just look at us now – cable TV, satellite TV, 500 channels not quite filling us up. So let’s stop asking questions about why you should pay for satellite radio, and let’s find out how the dern thing works.

Well, how does the dern thing work?

Let’s start by looking at the type of radio you are used to. AM radio broadcasts at a frequency range from 535 kilohertz (kHz) to 1700 kilohertz (1.7 MHz). FM broadcasts between 88 MHz to 108 MHz. Without getting too technical, one hertz is basically one cycle per second. So FM radio waves transmitted at 88MHz are cycling 88 million times per second. This seems like a lot, but is actually relatively slow. Slower cycles require larger antennas to transmit and to receive them. Also, radio station antennas are stationary and earthbound, and are therefore limited in range. At higher cycles, smaller antennas suffice. Cell phones range from 824 MHz to 1990 MHz (1.99GHz), depending on the type of service; this is a much faster cycle, and therefore a smaller antenna is used. Satellite radio is broadcast at 2.3 GHz, so your car or portable receiver has no trouble picking up the signal. There have also been great advances in antenna technology, which provide us with a relatively small, flat antenna rather than a dish that would have to be constantly adjusted to point toward the satellite as we drove around town picking up kids from soccer practice.

Let’s lay megahertz and gigahertz aside for a moment. In addition to those higher frequencies, satellite radio signals come from, you guessed it, satellites. These satellites are in a geosynchronous orbit, which is an orbit that keeps the satellite always above one location on the planet, making it stationary relative to the earth. The satellite receives a digital signal from the ground station and bounces it back to us. Because the signal is digital, it can be compressed and beamed out packed full of additional data (disguised as 0’s and 1’s), and received by any satellite radio receiver tuned to the signal. Satellite radio receivers can pick up the broadcast from anywhere in the coverage area (meaning the whole US) because the satellite is orbiting at about 22,200 miles (35,000 km) above the earth, which allows for a greater dispersion of the signal. It’s analogous to water flowing from a showerhead. An inch from the showerhead, the water is a relatively tight stream. At the other end of the shower, the water sprays all over the wall, and gets on the bathroom floor, causing your wife to yell angrily about the mess. Satellite radio beams work in much the same way. The radio signal is much more widely dispersed 22,000 miles from the satellite that sent the signal. So with satellite radio, you can listen to the same station as you drive from New York City to Los Angeles, whereas traditional radio has a range of only about 30 to 40 miles. And thanks to repeaters, or signal boosters, placed in urban areas, you can receive generally uninterrupted signals even driving through cities with large buildings and thick bridges.

Hey, that’s kind of cool!

But wait! There’s much, much more! The digital signal can carry much larger packets of data, and satellite radios are equipped with chipsets, or processors, that can decode that data. So satellite radios not only play the music, but also decode and display information containing the song title, album, artist, and genre. Satellite radio owners can also choose from hundreds of stations, which allows for specialization, just like your cable or satellite TV. In the same manner that you can get the HBO Comedy Hits of the Brahman Caste of Nepal Channel, and Tasmanian Worm Wrestling on ESPN 127, you can receive niche music, comedy, news, and sports broadcasts on your satellite radio. Pick your genre: any decade since the 40’s, Rock, Country, Urban, Jazz, Blues, Dance, Latin, World Music (e.g. Chinese, Indian, African), Classical, Kids, and even news, sports, comedy, and talk. You can also tune in to any sub-genre of the above; for example, in the Rock category you can listen to soft, heavy, classic, deep cuts, acoustic, instrumental, and even unsigned acts.

Maybe I should get me one of them there satellite radios…

Now that you know how it works, you can listen for the sheer pleasure of it – without all those nagging technical questions churning in the back of your mind. Go get you one.
