Step 1:
Decide on the distance you will need to use the two-way radios. This is a big factor when you buy two-way radios. Whether you need 10 miles, 20 miles, etc there are all sorts of two-way radios that will meet your need.

You have workers at a construction site and someone gets hurt and needs immediate attention. Again, by the time you raise a person on their cell phone you could miss the spot where you wanted to pull over. Using the two way radio gives you immediate response to your needs.

Find your child. Ever have your child wonder off and become frantic because you can’t find them. If you have given them a two-way radio and taught them the way to use it you should never have to worry about this again. This is especially helpful in the woods or in locations where a cell phone will not work.

Compare two-way radios with cell phones. The problem with cell phones is they may need to be charged and you may not be able to get a signal at any particular time. Two way radios need batteries–which you can carry with you–and don’t rely on network signals to be used. Therefore, in an emergency two-way radios may be the better of the two options.

3: Cell phones are a good back up if the two-way radio is not working properly.
4: There is one big drawback to two-way radios–other people using the same channel as you–you may need to change the channel if this happens.
